One of the most important things to remember during Zoom fundraising is that nothing about the conversation is very different. Certainly the geography changes. The actual time on Zoom may need to speed up a little bit too. After all you won’t have the happy distractions of the appetizers and the environment of the restaurant to relax everyone and warm up the call. But you still must absolutely take the time to warm everyone up no matter. Imagine if you went to your doctor and the first thing she said before hello was “please take off your shirt”. That would feel cold and unpleasant even if you needed to remove your shirt eventually.

Enjoy the conversation just like always. Share anecdotes that will broaden your understanding of your donor and their understanding of you.

When you treat one another like old friends you will make connections that will lead to the gifts that will sustain your program.
